ProTeam CEO Larry Shideler recognized that health concerns, along with the alarming statistical increase of allergy and asthma in the U.S., would be a big issue driving the development of products that improve indoor air quality.
Recently, ProTeam approached the American Lung Association® with a proposal to enter an educational partnership to spread the word about improving indoor air quality. An agreement was reached and on September 1, 2002, ProTeam entered a three-year partnership with the American Lung Association to educate the public about indoor air quality, the first full-scale partnership of its kind between the American Lung Association
and a vacuum cleaner manufacturer.
The American Lung Association (ALA) is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. ALA is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies. ALA achieves its many successes through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.
According to John Kirkwood, CEO of the American Lung Association, “The exclusive ProTeam educational partnership recognizes the American Lung Association's mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health. We are excited to be working with ProTeam since they are a company that shares our vision.
“Throughout the three-year partnership, ProTeam and the American Lung Association will conduct educational initiatives that are aimed at increasing awareness about the importance of clean indoor air whether it is in the workplace or home."
